Compensation increased by £69,000 following legal advice from Bartletts

Bartletts personal injury solicitors in Wrexham were approached by an elderly gentleman who had suffered significant damage to his spinal cord from being tipped out of his wheel chair on a bus journey. The erratic driving of the bus driver was found to be at fault and the bus company immediately admitted liability. The bus operating company’s insurers were keen to settle as quickly as possible and offered the gentleman compensation for injuries of £1,000.

The gentleman was on the verge of accepting the offer when he saw a television advert for the National Accident Helpline and decided to take legal advice. After a simple phone call, the helpline put him in touch with Bartletts, the leading personal injury solicitors in nearby Wrexham.

Bartletts solicitors quickly explained that his claim had been vastly undervalued. The personal injury experts successfully negotiated with the bus company’s insurers to achieve a total compensation of £70,000 handling the case swiftly and sensitively, settling it in just eighteen months.

It is important to remember that an insurance company’s objective is to keep their costs as low as possible. A specialist personal injury lawyer from Bartletts can provide an impartial opinion on whether an offer of compensation for an accident is fair and reflects the level of your injuries and provides for your longer term needs.

£8,000 compensation from closed factory

Bartletts personal injury solicitors in Chester recently secured £8,000 compensation for a factory worker who suffered permanent hearing loss due to high level of noise in the engineering plant he had worked in, despite the factory having since closed down.

The gentleman, now in his 50s, had worked in the engineering plant for three years as a machine setter and operator. His daily working environment subjected him to the constant sounds of drills and digging equipment. During that time he was not given any training on reducing the impact of workplace noise or issued with any protective equipment for his ears such as earplugs or ear defenders, as is required under health and safety legislation.

It was nearly three years after he had left the factory that the gentleman realised that he was suffering from severely impaired hearing. It was on the insistence of his wife that he sought advice after she noticed that he did not respond to her calling him and that he needed to turn the television volume up very loud. He had previously put his hearing loss down to the ageing process, but only later was it diagnosed that it was due to working in such a noisy environment over a long period of time.

When he came to see one of Bartletts specialist personal injury lawyers his hearing had drastically deteriorated, leaving him with a constant buzzing noise in his ears diagnosed by his doctor as industrial tinnitus.

The factory where the gentleman had worked had shut down and gone out of business. However, a company’s employees liability insurance continues to cover for such injuries even after a business has closed or been sold. Bartletts solicitors diligently traced some of his former colleagues to gather collaborative evidence to support the case.

Bartletts successfully negotiated £8,000 compensation from the company’s insurers for the workplace negligence. The gentleman used the compensation for noise induced hearing loss to equip himself with a digital hearing aid.

Bartletts Solicitors Secures Law Societys New Quality Mark

Bartletts Solicitors is proud to announce that it has been accredited as a member of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS). This is the recognised badge of excellence for the home buying and selling process.

It’s a huge coup for Bartletts as it recognises the fact the firm achieved the highest standards of professionalism, service and expertise and have undergone a rigorous assessment by the Law Society in order to secure CQS status, which marks the firm out as meeting high standards in the residential conveyancing process.   The scheme is supported by the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Building Society Association, the Association of British Insurers, the Legal Ombudsman and the Land Registry.

Law Society President John Wotton said that the Law Society introduced CQS to promote high standards in the home buying process.  “CQS improves efficiency with common, consistent standards and service levels and enables consumers to recognise practices that provide a quality residential conveyancing service.

Buying a home is one of the largest purchases anyone will make in their lifetime, so it is essential that it is done to the highest standard by a solicitor. There are many different conveyancing service providers out there, making it difficult for home buyers to identify those which can ensure a safe and efficient level of service.”

Khalid Mahmood, Bartletts Licensed Conveyancer says: “This is an outstanding achievement for our conveyancing department. We are immensely proud to have achieved the gold standard for the industry from the Law Society.  We know it is a standard that is not awarded lightly.  We’ve always been committed to the highest standards of integrity, ethics and professionalism, while still offering flexibility in order to meet the needs of our clients, so it’s an honour both for myself and Bartletts to have that effort acknowledged by such a coveted award. It shows we place the client at the heart of everything we do and it will also help us continue to attract the best staff in the industry.”

Director Pierre Bartlett, added: “This award is recognition of the high standards we provide to our residential property clients and our commitment to ensure exceptional levels of client care, staff training and procedural standards and is tremendous recognition for the excellent work that has been carried out by the firm. To achieve excellence is always our aim and achieving CQS accreditation is a signal to future home buyers of the excellent level of service we provide at what is often a stressful time for many people.”

Bartletts Solicitors Celebrate New Wrexham Office Opening

Bartletts Solicitors has opened a new office in Wrexham and recently held an open day to celebrate.

Bartletts Solicitors is a name that will already be familiar with many people in the local area, as the firm has worked with clients in and around Wrexham for a number of years. Now that the firm has opened a dedicated office in the heart of the town, it took the opportunity to make itself known to the wider community by holding an open day, during which free bags for life were given to members of the public.

Owain Dodd, a specialist personal injury solicitor who has worked for Bartletts Solicitors for many years and now heads up the Wrexham office commented on  the open day saying:

“There was a fantastic turnout for our Wrexham office open day recently, and everyone seemed to enjoy the chance to meet the staff as well as get one of our free bags for life. Everyone at the new office is feeling incredibly pleased to be in this new location, especially because we’ve worked so closely with clients in the area for many years, and the feedback from locals and clients alike has been very positive.”

Located at 5 Charles Street, Wrexham, the new branch is committed to personal injury work, and only handles claims for compensation, offering legal advice, guidance and support throughout the claims process. The experienced solicitors help to secure high levels of compensation for local people who have been injured in an accident that wasn’t their fault – including work accidents, road accidents, slips and trips, and medical negligence.

Existing and new clients can now come into the central office whenever they’re in Wrexham and speak directly to a member of staff.

Mr Dodd commented: “As this is a specialist office, we can really improve the service already on offer in the area by being so accessible through our convenient location in central Wrexham as well as by continuing to provide an excellent compensation and claims system. Our reputation has been built over many years, and we’re known for securing clients the best possible levels of compensation, as quickly as possible and for as little as possible.

“Because we consider every aspect of an individual’s injury and accident, we’re able to secure the compensation that ensures any ongoing health needs can be met without financial worry. Our experience means we appreciate the need for maximum compensation but minimum stress, which is why we always work sensitively as well as efficiently.”

Bartletts Solicitors was established in 1860 and has a number of offices across Merseyside and Cheshire. Its new Wrexham office means the company can now work closely with local people in the town and North Wales too, and will offer an additional Welsh-language service to clients. There is also scope for employing new members of staff as a result of the latest office opening.

“As an added bonus, our new office means more growth for the firm – and more jobs for professional people in the local area,” Mr Dodd added.

On the day Bartletts held a prize draw for £100 of M&S Vouchers and Mrs K Wright of  Wrexham won the prize.

Bartletts Solicitors supports Chester Walking Bus

As we try to encourage parents to use their cars less and children to get more exercise, one eco-friendly innovation that is taking off across the country is the Walking Bus Scheme.

A Walking Bus is a group of children who make their way to and from school on foot, supervised by participating adults. It may remind you of the old ‘crocodile’ of school children on an outing as they march down the street!

Child safety is an important element of the scheme, and so Bartletts Solicitors have been delighted to support the Upton Heath walking bus through the purchase of some bright orange safety jackets.

Eliza Austin-Lea, a solicitor specializing in personal injury advice comments on the success of the walking bus scheme, “As coordinator of the Bus scheme, it’s a great way to share the school run, and to get some fresh air in the morning, whilst easing congestion round the school gates. The high visibility jackets make sure all the children are easily seen by motorists, and the children love the bright colour”.
